When buying jewelry, Tiffany & Co. is often considered the epitome of class, style and taste. The prices of the pieces mean most any purchase can be considered an investment. Unfortunately, if you do not purchase Tiffany jewelry from a Tiffany & Co. store, it can be very difficult to spot a fake. Knockoff handbags, scarves, hats, wallets, shoes and more are the norm - production is quick, designs can be relatively easy to imitate and demand is high. Many are easy to spot, but others require a more highly trained eye. Fake Tiffany & Co. jewelry requires more inspection than most other fakes. Learn how to spot a fake Tiffany product with these easy tips.

Visit the Tiffany & Co. store and view the piece you are interested in purchasing elsewhere. Take note of the craftsmanship, any engraving or details, the weight of the piece and the overall appearance, including luster and shine.

Visually inspect the piece you would like to purchase. Note any differences between the piece you are holding and the piece you viewed at the Tiffany & Co. store. Many times fake Tiffany jewelry will have a very high shine or luster, making it easier to spot a fake.

Check the piece for tarnish and sterling silver stamp (if sterling silver). A tag should be attached to the clasp stamped with "925" if your piece is authentic Tiffany & Co. sterling silver. The piece should not show any signs of tarnishing.

Compare the weight of the piece to the weight of the item in the Tiffany store. If the piece noticeably weighs less than the one in the store, it is likely a fake.

Review the details. Look at the engraving, polish and curves of the piece. Look at all the finishing touches ... are edges ragged or smooth? Does the piece look high-quality and made with good craftsmanship? Do you notice differences between the two pieces? If so, you are likely viewing a fake Tiffany & Co. item.

Is the price too good to be true? Is someone trying to sell you an "authentic" Tiffany necklace for $20 that is brand new and in perfect condition? This likely isn't a bargain, it is a knock off.

Tips & Warnings

Items from popular collections like the Elsa Peretti Open Heart, heart tag, round tag, Elsa Peretti Bean, etc. are more likely to be copied and for sale as knock-offs. Tiffany Diamond knockoffs do exist, but aren't prevalent.
Larger or chunkier Tiffany pieces (like the heart tag collection) weigh a good amount. A good sign of a fake is the much lighter feel.
You should never pay Tiffany & Co. retail prices for a knock-off.
Accessories do not prove an item isn't a knock off! It doesn't matter if the seller has the suede pouch, bag, care card, ribbon or anything else ... inspect the piece and decide based on the jewelry alone.
Tiffany does not authenticate any piece of jewelry. This means you cannot buy a "Tiffany" necklace from another person and take it to a Tiffany & Co. store and ask them to verify that the piece is "real" and not a knockoff. Do your homework before you buy!

My weekly Blog Post is for the makeup artist, and the lovers of Blushes N' Brushes.....

What is "A Healthy Kit"?

As an artist always running around with my kit I sometimes get a lot of last minute clients. The first thing that runs in my head is....."Is my kit ready to take care of my clients' needs?" and "What needs to be refilled?"

Good thing I always stay on top of this.
Here is a list of top products and accessories my kit can't go without.

(ladies and Gents that aren't professional artist this for for you too, you might find that one product that will fit just right in your own personal kits) .....Let's get started!

*Eyebrows*

A face is not complete without well groomed and shaped brows.

I make sure to keep an arsenal of products /accessories ready to tame and maintain a Dynamic Brow.

Eyebrow Brush: Groom
Eyebrow Scissors: Maintain brow thickness/length
Tweezers: Remove hairs, and shape
Eyebrow Pencils: Give brows more definition and fill

*Primers*

Primers are the root of a well executed look. These products are made to give your face the proper base for your makeup. There are lots of different primers out there. Check with your favorite brand and see which one works for you.

Face Primer

SmashBox Face Primer is one of the best on the market
Evens out the texture of your shin. Making your foundation
easier to apply.

Eye Primer

MAC's Paint Pot is the perfect primer for the eyes. Paint Pots come
in so many shades from neutral shades to bright vibrant colors. Just
a thin layer of this creamy base will hold your eyeshadow for hours.

Lip Primer

MAC Prep+Prime Lip has to be my all time favorite
product. This leaves your lips feeling soft. Lip liners just
glide on with no trouble at all.

Lash primer

Smashbox Lash Primer makes sure that your lashes are
protected from braking. Gives your a primed look of white ready for you Mascara. Used right you will see that your lashes will look a little longer.

*Lashes*

Your look is never complete until you have some lashes on. If you are not a fan of false lashes many mascaras can make you achieve bold lashes, or even a defined lash line.

Lash Curler

Curlers are used for those lashes that need that extra LIFT AND CURL
you can find lash curlers at any pharmacy that sell cosmetics.
(Lash curlers come in different sizes pick the size that fits you best)

Mascara

MAC's Haute and Naughty one of my favorite new toys. You get two mascaras for the price of one. If you are into lightly coated lashes just for definition or a big bold lash like this mascara is for you.

False lashes

False lashes come in so many shapes and sizes. The beautiful thing is that they are only temporary. I always say try them out you might like what you see. They are not only for "Show Girls".

Lash Adhesive

DUO Lash Adhesive you can find them in any pharmacy. I love using this brand because it drys well and clear.

DUO comes in two colors white and black both work the same.
The white drys clear
The black drys a transparent black (best for a smoky eye and blends well with darker liners)
