15-year-old donates her hair to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths. . .$2600 raised

SHANNON de Sousa, of Launceston, wants people to think next time they cut their hair.
The 15-year-old donated 35 centimetres of her hair to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Foundation this weekend, to make real wigs for cancer patients, while raising $2600 at the same time.
Now, she is encouraging others to do the same.
Shannon decided she would cut her luscious locks last year, after her then 19-year-old sister Sinead was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
``She didn't have to lose her hair, she still had to go through radiation, but it just made me think of how other girls around Australia and the world have to lose their hair,'' the Scotch Oakburn grade 9 student said.
``The Cancer Council helped her so much. They gave her a scholarship for $1750 through a seize the day award and it really helped.
``She is great now, and in her third year of her arts law degree, in Hobart.
``So I wanted to give back to the Cancer Council.''
To raise the funds, Shannon set up her own charity website, distributed donation tins throughout the state, and talked to many individuals, schools and organisations about donation.
Donations even came from the US, Canada, Africa and England.
``At first my target was $300, but then I got over $300 so thought it could be $1000, and now I have $2600,'' Shannon said yesterday.
She chose the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Foundation to donate her hair too as it is then used to make wigs for cancer patients.
At least 20 centimetres of hair must be cut off for the wigs, and is done by putting it into a low ponytail and snipping above the hair band.
``I did start crying just realising that I was cutting it, and then how much I had raised,'' Shannon said.
``But they were tears of joy.
``We have a family friend who had cancer and her hair still hasn't grown back after so many years, I know mine will grow back, but their's never will.
``I really like it.''``It's a waste to just chuck it out.

Rihanna News That You May Have Missed:

topshop

There was a time when Rihanna seemed to be buddy-buddy with U.K. retailer Topshop, but at the moment, the friendship has been put on ice. The singer is currently suing the brand for using a picture of her face on a T-shirt without her consent. The fashion outlet (WWD) reports that unlike the U.S., "there is no right of personality" in the U.K., meaning that Topshop's use of Rihanna's photo is fair game — as long as the company purchased it, of course.

RiRi does not quite see it the same way, as using a celebrity's image does suggest an endorsement by association. Which may or may not be okay, but, hey, you should ask first. The suit will be officially addressed at Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice this summer, where a decision will need to be made as to whether Rihanna has the right to know where her celebrity is being used...or if U.K. law rules.

As Usual

Rihanna's Switzerland Acne Road Petite White Leather Jacket and Black Azzedine Alaia Jumpsuit

Rihanna does it for me. To me, it seems as though Rihanna's outfits get better and better over time. She wore this simple ensemble in Zurich, Switzerland. Here, she is pictured wearing an Azzedine Alaia black jumpsuit, Rihanna for River Island sandals, and an Acne Road Petite White Leather Jacket.  Rihanna definitely knows how to rock black and white!

BET Awards Red Carpet 2013 Best Dressed List

Meagan Good looked super STUNNING on tonights Red Carpet. Meagan’s long-sleeved blue dressed was simple but sexy hugging her in all the right places. Many people are saying this dress was inappropriate for the award she was presenting and because her husband is a preacher. How do you feel about this dress?

Adrienne Bailon here in a red one shoulder gown that is pulled in at the waist. Even though the blue on her shoes is different than the blue on her earrings, she made it come together. I think she worked this look from her to dress to her pose! You could tell she was red carpet ready!

We all waited to see how Miguel would redeem himself from his leg-drop incident and definitely did not let us down. All of his looks tonight were bomb, except one, but this red carpet look made up for it. Miguel's cool-kid style always has us lost for words and this look left me with one word: DOPE!
CiaraCiara

I love Cici's new look. She shows everybody how to rock blonde hair the right way. Sometimes she changes the length but I love the super short bob on her. Cool new hairstyle that matches her cool new style! Ciara wore a leather top, that may be Saint Laurent, and a leather pencil skirt to match. She then wore silver pointy-toe pumps to add to the edge.

These two gentlemen decided to not dress formal or over the top and pulled out their kicks. Jacob Latimore (pictured on the left) decided to bring out his Guiseppe Zanotti's & Nelly (pictured on the right) decided to pull out his classic Air Jordan  3's.

Kanye Wearing A Crop Top?! Rumor!

This picture taken in 2010 had the internet buzzing in April. All rumors are cleared. It is NOT a crop top! I repeat.. NOT a crop top! It's actually a brown leather belt that is the same shade of brown as Ye's skin tone and not his stomach. Kanye is a man of many looks but he would never stoop that low.

DVF Opens Up A New Shop In Manhattan!

Diane Von Furstenberg

The first Diane von Furstenberg accessories shop opened last week in the gallery space of DVF headquarters at 440 West 14th Street in Manhattan. Located just steps away from the High Line in the Meatpacking District, the accessories shop windows are decorated with fluorescent lips — a DVF signature — and mannequins wearing different iterations of the iconic wrap dress. Lipstick lips are also used on the walls like wallpaper. There’s pink carpeting and a heart-shaped pouf covered in a black-and white print.

The pre-fall accessories collection is sold at the shop, including the weekend-ready On the Go Tote and 440 Top Handle Satchel, which was notably carried by BeyoncĂ©. Mini bags such as the quilted Milo and the 440 Mini are also sold, along with small leather goods such as iPhone cases, wallets and wristlets. The designer’s chunky sandals and wedges are displayed on metal and glass fixtures.

“Accessories are really important to the company and this is the first shop we have dedicated to only accessories,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “We thought it was a great way to highlight our favorite styles…and to celebrate summer.” Von Furstenberg published a map of the High Line listing her favorite stops along the stroll.
