Dior's Crystal Studded Lips for spring 2013 couture show

christian-dior-couture-2013-lips.jpg
Yesterday, at Dior's spring 2013 couture show, makeup artist Pat McGrath combined two themes she's been experimenting a lot with lately: textured makeup and layered lip looks, gluing red and pink Swarovski crystals on top of similar-colored lipsticks for bright, rosy pouts that dazzled all the way down the runway. It looked magical, pretty, and cutting-edge all at the same time.

However, you may want to skip the crystals for your next big date. You'd likely swallow a Swarovski stone the first time you tried to eat or drink anything, and kissing would be a challenge.

Check out these sparkle-and-shine lippies for a reasonable fascimile:
Mehron Paradise Glitter in Dynamite Red. This loose red glitter can go over any red or pink lipstick. The key to getting the flecks to stick is layering on clear gloss before pressing the glitter on with a cotton swab.
Ka'Ori Glitzsticks. Glitzsticks are a two-step system: a creamy lipstick and a pot of matching loose glitter you press on with a brush. They come in red and pink, as well as electric blue, silver, and even bright yellow.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Metallic Lip Tars. Not really into the taste of glitter? Try a metallic lipstick instead. Super NSFW is a gorgeous metallic red, while Yao! is a true metallic fuchsia.

Still want more? (God, you guys, you're killing me.) Try out layered lips without the choking hazard with the looks in "Pucker Punch," a lip story in our February issue in part inspired by McGrath's textured, multicolored looks. We show three different layered lip ideas and divulge the products you'll need to recreate the craziest runway effects we've seen this season, from dual-ended lipsticks and disco-ball glosses to loose glitters, neon pigments, and metallic foils.

All Red Everything Rita Ora

Rita Ora EMA Red carpet

Over in British singer Rita Ora wore all red everything as she hit up the red carpet of the MTV Europe Music Awards dressed in a dramatic red Marchesa gown.

Her time in that red gown was short-lived as she immediately changed into a red Emilio Pucci lace catsuit to open the show, and later appeared in the press room wearing a red Alexandre Vauthier pant suit.

8 Classic Beauty Looks You Can Bring Back To Life!!!!

Blunt Bangs
Bettie Page                                                          Rooney Mara

Bring them back by letting
them fall straight across your forehead, from temple to temple, and end right above your eyebrows. Keeping your blunt fringe wie will open up your eyes and give you a fresher look.
Vampy Lips
Madonna                                                                Camilla Belle

Update this trend with an all-over sweep of bronzer and a touch of illuminator on cheekbones to transform your look from “vampire fanatic” to sunkissed goddess.

High Ponytails
Cher                                                                       Jason Wu

Make your tail stand apart from the pack by smoothing down frizz and flyways with a serum, tying it super-high, and spritzing it into place with hairspray.

Bold Brows
Ali Macgraw                                                             Lily Collins

Follow your natural shape and fill in sparse areas with a powder or pencil, then brush over with a clean spoolie brush afterward, for a natural finish.

Rimmed Eyes
Brigitte Bardot                                                        Marios Schwab Model

Bring this back by breaking up the lines with cat-eye inspired strokes. This geometric style not only introduces drama, but widens and elongates the eyes as well.

Slicked-Back Hair
Veronica Lake                                                        Model

To keep it fresh and out of granny-hair territory, ditch the part and the perfect curls and go for a more futuristic wet look.

Doll Eyes
Liza Minnelli                                                           Zooey Deschanel

Stick a pair of falsies on your upper lash line, crimp with a curler, then coat on very-black volumizing, thickening mascara.

Blue Eyeshadow
Twiggy                                                                   Prabal Gurung Model

To bring this back its  just a matter of mixing up a range of options and adding dimension. Introduce some dark in the crease for depth, and if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try a metallic cobalt blue for an intense holographic effect.

Easy Steps To Smoky!

When you think smoky, you instantly reach for black, but it can look severe. The most universally flattering tone is chocolate brown, rather than black- it's way sultrier and softer against all skin tones.

1. LINE Rim eyes with a soft kohl. Go as close to the lash roots as possible so that you don't see any gaps between the liner and lashes. Trying to draw a continuous line from the inside corner of lashes outwards can be tricky - the most foolproof technique is to sketch little strokes along the lash line, working your way from the outside in.

2.LAYER Blend a deep mink-brown shadow across the lids, up to the crease and lightly along lower lashes, too. Then sweep a bronze shadow from slightly beyond the outer corners to the middle of the lids - and layer with a copper tone from the center of the lids inwards.

3.BRIGHTEN Wash a shimmery gold shadow over the top of the lids to bring lightness to the eyes. And blend it all up into the crease for a washed and blended, rather than graphic, effect.

4.PLUMP Curl your lashes to emphasise them and then pile on black mascara top and bottom.

The Nude Lip
Barely there lips are sexy without screaming, "Look At Me!", but don't match them to your skin tone as a too-fleshy pout can be draining. The most flattering shade isn't pure beige look for peachy or pink undertones.
